Throughout her career, Mona has worked with leaders from the private, public, and non-profit sectors to apply McKinsey’s capabilities to complex social challenges.

In addition to her role as CEO of McKinsey.org, Mona leads Global Social Responsibility for McKinsey & Company.

In 2014 Mona founded Generation, a non-profit dedicated to getting young people into good, long-term jobs. It is now the largest global program by annual volume that trains and places youth in jobs.

In 2007, Mona began McKinsey’s education service line, which she led until 2017. This venture works with school systems and vocational and higher-education institutions to improve students’ outcomes. In 2000, she helped to start McKinsey’s Dubai office, and would became the first woman in the region to be elected partner. Mona was selected as one of Fortune magazine’s “40 under 40,” in 2011.

Mona serves on the boards of the International Baccalaureate organization and the New America Foundation. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relation and serves on the global advisory council for Teach for All.

A citizen of both the United States and Egypt, Mona earned a PhD in economic development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
