Barry is a digital leader who enjoys solving problems with design and technology. Barry leads Digital Innovation for McKinsey.org's Sustainable Communities initiative.

As part of Sustainable Communities global leadership team, Barry leads digital and innovation projects that enable communities, waste workers, sorting centres and processors to more effectively sort waste, manage operations and buy and sell material.

Barry has been following dual interests in sustainability and digital innovation throughout his life. After studying environmental studies and journalism at the University of Queensland, he undertook postgraduate study in citizen journalism and social media, working on the YouDecide2007 research project with QUT and SBS. He focused on building innovative software products and experiences for environmental groups, news organisations and community organisations. This lead to a career in consultancies, NGOs and startups. He has worked with WWF Australia, Earth Hour, EngageMedia and the Australian Greens as a digital consultant, and has lead design and product on award-winning products across finance, tech, fashion, news, streaming and agriculture.

Before joining McKinsey.org, he was a Design Director / Digital Expert in McKinsey and Company's Sydney office, where he lead teams building digital businesses and products in finance, insurance, government, telecommunications and streaming.

Barry lives in sunny Sydney, and enjoys playing bass, motorcycling and creating video art.
